We have an Eco Team Committee comprising of children from each year group.
Our current Committee consists of:
Year 2: Albie
Year 3: Willa and Olivia G
Year 4: Kiasia and Ted G
Year 5: Oliwia and Zeke
Year 6: Amber and Josh
The idea behind the Eco Team is to help the children to learn about ecological issues by giving them the chance to help make changes themselves and therefore make a difference in school and ultimately at home too. For example, the Eco Team has set up a crisp packet recycling scheme in school. The Eco Team Committee also helps to organise termly whole school events so that all the children can be involved. Last year, all classes made eco-friendly wrapping paper at Christmas and learnt about the importance of recycling, thinking about where the things we buy come from and what impact they have.
The school has recently started the journey to becoming a Green Flag Award Eco-School and we are currently working towards the Bronze Award.
The children apply to be on the committee and the members of the committee change during the year to allow more children to take part. The Eco Team is supported by Sarah Mackley and Annkatrin Hendry.
